I didn’t simply want to lose weight. My goal was to learn a new healthy lifestyle
I had problems with my knees and went to an orthopaedic surgeon. He said that both knees were worn out and I needed surgery. When I visited the clinic where I was to have surgery, they told me it was very important that I lose some weight as the risks were far greater if I didn’t.
But I didn’t simply want to lose weight. My goal was to learn a new healthy lifestyle so that when I had my knee replacements, I could be optimistic about not having to repeat the operations again. A friend of mine had followed the PowerSlim programme and had told me how happy she was with it, so I also registered for an intake interview .
I had already started eating fewer carbohydrates, but I wanted guidance to achieve my goal faster in a healthy way. And I succeeded !
A typical day on PowerSlim
In phase one, I took five eating occasions per day and, if necessary, I took a sixth in the evening. A typical day looked like this:
Breakfast: Low-fat quark with PowerSlim muesli
Snack: PowerSlim crunchy bar, for example the Crunchy Coconut or Crispy Caramel bars.
Lunch: Two slices of PowerSlim sesame linseed bread with cottage cheese and 100g tomatoes
Snack: Another tasty PowerSlim crunchy bar or drink/smoothie
Dinner: This varied daily, for example courgetti with salmon or a piece of meat with vegetables.
Snack: If I was still hungry in the evening, I took another PowerSlim bar

My favourite recipes are: Thai Curry Soup with Smoked Salmon and Broccoli and Broccoli Rice Nasi.
When I was invited over to dinner with friends I would always take a meal with me, for example a salad. That way I was sure about not eating too many carbohydrates. If you let people know this in advance, they won’t be annoyed.

I really liked the fact that I could snack in the form of bars. It made it not feel like a diet. I also hadn’t expected to get used to smaller portions so quickly.
My healthy diet has given me so much. I feel much better, even in the evenings I still have enough energy. I look much better and that also makes me feel better. My knee surgery was completed and the rehabilitation went well.
I could not have dreamed that I would learn a different lifestyle at my age (68 years) so I really feel good about myself all round !
My success tip for anyone who wants to live a healthier life: make sure you are always well prepared so that you are not faced with unexpected situations. Good preparation is half the job.
